A Midsummer Nights Dream

I really wanted to challenge myself in this project with a omni/non-period design. I didn't want to get caught up in a period and just let my imagination run wild through these magical creatures. I was attracted to the extreme elements: earth, fire, and air (although there was no water). I wanted to see what Puck, Oberon, and Titania embodied as an element my thought are on my Color Texture Research slides with images and some initial rough (rough, rough) sketches, you can see my ideas starting to unravel into full design. I added a little bit of hair and makeup because bringing those aspects of the character in is crucial to the visual representation of them. I ended up with the artistic statement of 'Elemental Hunger Games' because when we think of the Hunger Games and their costumes, we think 'outlandish,' 'over exaggerant,' or 'extreme.' So, using that with the natural elements really compliments my design. This omni/non-period design was such a great and fun challenge.
