A Midsummer Night's Dream

The part of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that most interested me when looking through it was the other worldly elements in it with the fairies and all of the themes with that. I see a lot of world ambiance being used to help bring the audience into the world of the play. I could also see speakers around the theater, on the wall near or above the audience, to give the illusion that they are in the environment with the characters. With the materials provided, I’ve included a couple of samples that I put together using different clips that I could see play during the intro of scenes or through out them. I’ve also included possible sound effects that I could see used to emphasize certain scenes or objects. I also see using sound to help bring attention to certain parts of the play. This I saw a lot of in the beginning, as characters are exiting and entering. Entrances or exits that the director would like to make sure the audience notices could be emphasized with door slams. I could also see music being used, as scene transitions or in scenes themselves, but that would need to be discussed further with the director. With this design though, there’s enough that I left a bit open ended because I believe that a sound design should have the director’s input before it’s finalized, as it’s their world that the sound design is bringing to life.
